Beth Chapman is kidnapped from a famous amusement park by Sam Hudson, and taken to a barn high in the Cleveland National Forrest. She joins Audrey Simms, the first girl Sam kidnapped and together they devise a plan to escape

Lost in unfamiliar territory, they wander in the forest, finally coming upon the beginning streams that feed into a large reservoir.

PI's Jim Sessions and Lenny Browning, hired by Beth's parents to find their daughter, get a lead on the abductor's barn, and with the help of Cricket, their talented Doberman, begin to track the girls. Tracking them all is a raging, out-of-control wildfire.
