Tapestries beguile the viewer with their intricacies and beauty, often drawing fleeting memories from one's own life. Colors, bright or muted, scenes, both simple and sophisticated call to the reader, but rarely does the observer consider the technicalities, the warps and wefts, although they are an intrinsic part of the finished product.
Rather, the viewer appreciates the whole picture conveyed and interpreted through the intricate weaving of individual threads.
Poetry is like a tapestry. A poem can be read in a few minutes, yet it can become the picture that inspires dreams at the beginning of a new day or the end of a hard one. A poem, just one thread, can change a life, even if the poem is only a few words, a single thread.
Over time, a reader adds more threads and appreciates the weaving pattern of poetry, thus the poems become a tapestry of the reader's own creation.

The threads are woven throughout this book, the warps and wefts. Poets call them senryu, haiku, sonnets, rondeau and triolets; Iamb, trochee, anapest, alliteration, and symbolism. Rhythm, meter and rhyme. These poetic threads interlace to create an image in the reader's mind, just like a tapestry. And like a real tapestry, the viewer only needs to appreciate and interpret the final result.
